A Guide to HVAC Units for the Amateur

When our family first moved into our home five years ago, the central heating and air unit were brand new. We never considered that there would be a time when it would not be operating as we wanted it to. When the time to buy a new unit came, we found that the available options were more diverse than we thought. It was all too confusing. After researching the different options, I decided to create this blog. My hope is that others who are faced with this decision can find easy-to-understand information that can aid in quickly making an informed decision.

3 Electrical Upgrades To Add In Your New Home

Construction & Contractors Blog

If you have hired a custom home builder to design and build your new house, you may want to add some features to it that make it more functional. While there are hundreds of things you could add, here are three inexpensive, electrical features that you will absolutely love to have in your brand new home.

Magnetic light switches

Magnetic light switches are the perfect addition to add to your pantry and closets. A magnetic light switch is attached to the door of a room and when you open this door, the light in the room will automatically come on. When you close the door, the light automatically shuts off. This is a very handy feature to have in your new house, and you can select which rooms have these switches.

Mounted TVs

While you do not necessarily have to plan for this when you build your house, it will make it much easier for you if you decide to mount your TVs on the wall. When the house is being wired in for electricity, you can have the contractor install outlets on the upper walls where the TVs will be placed.

If you are planning on doing this, you may also want to add storage space for your cable box, DVD player, and all the wires that are needed to operate these things. The contractor might be able to build a small shelf into the wall for these things, which would be helpful for reducing clutter.

Bedroom light switches by the bed

Finally, you should consider adding light switches in all the bedrooms that are located by the beds. How many times have you gone to bed without turning the light out? A lot of people do this, and they must then get out of bed to shut off the light. If you have a switch located by your bed, you will be able to complete this task without ever getting up.

With this feature, you will still have light switches by the doors of the rooms, but both sets will be considered two-way switches because both will operate the same lights.

There are so many cool features you can add to your home, and if you would like to learn about other features, talk to your custom home builders today. They may be able to give you other ideas too, and you can choose the features that would make your home more functional for you and your family.
